News – Hybrid Solutions Project, Ukraine in partnership with the CDCS

ELECTRICIENS SANS FRONTIERES IN THE FIELD

Two of our volunteer technicians, specialists in photovoltaic installations, travelled to the Chernihiv and Rivne oblasts this summer to inspect the work and take delivery of the first 15 schools.

A second team travelled to the Mykolaiv region to inspect work on 14 pumping stations. These pumping stations play an essential role in Ukraine, providing the population with constant access to water and heating during the winter, when temperatures drop drastically.

Thanks to our local partners, the Fortechnyi Foundation and CAMZ, for their support.

New work is being carried out on 11 health centres in the Rivne and Lviv oblasts, as well as on 5 hospitals in Transcarpathia and the Ivano-Frankivsk oblast, in partnership with CAMZ. In addition, work is being carried out in 3 hospitals in the Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions in collaboration with our partner Energy Act For Ukraine. These installations will be completed by the end of November, to meet the energy needs of these facilities in time for the coming winter.

The extension of the project until March 2025 will make it possible to install at least 86 hybrid installations that will supply public infrastructures on a long-term basis before next spring. Russian strikes against energy infrastructure are continuing, restricting access to electricity for the entire Ukrainian population.

Upcoming project activities:

  • Equipment will be distributed in several oblasts, including 2,000 solar lamps, nearly 50 unit heaters, hundreds of convector heaters and outdoor floodlights to meet the needs of the population ahead of winter, thanks to the mobilisation of partners;
  • Several missions will be carried out until February 2025 to monitor and take delivery of the works;
  • Training will be provided face-to-face, where possible, and remotely for Ukrainian technical and non-technical staff.

All the actions we are carrying out in the emergency situation in Ukraine are possible thanks to the mobilisation alongside us of the Crisis and Support Centre of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and many other supporters.
