SOLIDARITY ENERGY WEEK 2024

ELECTRICIENS SANS FRONTIÈRES LOOKS FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, FOR SOLIDARITY ENERGY WEEK!

Solidarity Energy Week was created by the French NGO Electriciens sans frontières in 2013 to raise awareness of the problems of access to electricity and water around the world. From Monday, September 30 to Sunday, October 6, 2024, we have a week to show that solutions exist to combat inequalities in access to electricity and water around the world with free events all over France! Every year, the 1,100 volunteers of Electriciens sans frontières invite you to join them for Solidarity Energy Week.

This year’s event runs from Monday September 30 to Sunday October 6. In all regions of France, events with our partners will be taking place to illustrate how energy is an essential lever in the fight against both inequality of access to electricity and water around the world, and the vulnerability of populations to climate change. Indeed, simple, effective, affordable and sustainable solutions do exist, and are perfectly suited to meeting the needs of isolated rural areas , which suffer the most from energy poverty worldwide.

Events will take a variety of forms: photo exhibitions, round tables, film screenings, etc. These events are free and open to all audiences, depending on the venue.

WATER AND ENERGY: VITAL RESOURCES

Energy and water are key to human and economic development, especially in isolated rural areas.
The role of Electriciens sans frontières is to provide access to electricity and water for the people who live there. How can we meet these basic needs while taking climate change into account?

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS IN SIGHT

The 2030 Agenda is a universal program launched by the UN based on 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). During Solidarity Energy Week, Electriciens sans frontières aims to make as many people as possible aware of both the issues at stake and the existing solutions.

  • 675 million people worldwide have no access to electricity.
  • We carried out 94 development projects in 2023.

  • 2.2 billion people still have no access to drinking water.
  • 50% of our projects provide access to quality water and adequate sanitation.

  • Energy is the main factor contributing to climate change.
  • 89% of our development projects use renewable energies.

OUR ONGOING SUPPORT

For over 30 years, Electriciens sans frontières has always been able to count on the support of its partners, whatever the circumstances.
In our development, expertise and emergency projects, their help and know-how are invaluable to the smooth running of our projects.
Throughout Solidarity Energy Week, partners and regional delegations of Electriciens sans frontières co-organize actions to shed light on the need for access to electricity and water around the world.
Whether with their employees, their networks or their customers, the Semaine de l’énergie solidaire resonates throughout France and beyond, thanks to their support.
