Projects to respond to humanitarian emergencies
On 24 February 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine. Regular attacks are taking place throughout the country, particularly targeting the critical infrastructure of the electricity system. These attacks have deprived millions of people of electricity. Electriciens sans frontières, with the support of the Crisis and Support Centre (CDCS) of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, partner companies and Ukrainian civil society organisations, launched actions to meet the essential energy needs of the population for heating, healthcare, drinking and communication.
At the same time, repairs to photovoltaic installations were carried out in early 2022 in Madagascar following the passage of cyclone Batsirai.
Projects to combat inequalities in development
82 electricity and water access projects are currently being deployed around the world. In 89% of these projects, we are using solar energy and, in some cases, hydropower, to improve living conditions for the most disadvantaged populations by making access to energy and water a lever for economic and human development. Support projects with other international solidarity players
We mobilise our expertise to help other international aid agencies facing problems of access to electricity and water. In 2022, Electriciens sans frontières carried out 25 expertise projects for a wide range of organisations, including Alima, Les Filles de la Charité, the Order of Malta, Vision du Monde, etc.
Alongside our projects, the year was punctuated with successes and recognition: the resumption of our field missions, new funding for large-scale projects, successful external evaluations for several projects, a presence at COP 27 in Egypt and an unprecedented exhibition in the national media.
