On the night of Friday 8 to Saturday 9 September, a powerful 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Morocco. Electriciens sans frontières is mobilising to provide vital assistance to the people affected by the disaster.

From Saturday morning, Electriciens sans frontières was preparing to send electrical equipment to help the victims of the earthquake and the organisations working on the ground.

OUR INTERVENTION

Nearly 1.5 tonnes of equipment on 10 pallets, including 500 solar lamps, 12 generators and 600 metres of cable, are ready to be dispatched as soon as the Moroccan authorities give the go-ahead.

Proposals for access to light and heat for emergency shelters are already being examined. They will enable earthquake victims to get through the winter in the best possible conditions.

PLANNED MISSION

From Thursday, two Electriciens sans frontières will be on site to support Morroco Energy Leader.

Their mission will be to help distribute more than 650 solar lighting kits to remote, hard-to-reach villages in the Moroccan mountains.

HOW CAN YOU HELP

➡️ Make a donation today to support our emergency action to help the people of Morocco.

In an emergency situation, rapidly restoring access to electricity is essential, if not vital, for the people affected. Your support will be essential if we are to respond effectively to the needs assessed.
